Spring Turkey Season And Fishing The River

Getting after some big gobblers like these make for an exciting turkey season.
This weekend turkey season opens here in Georgia, and not a minute too soon. Spring is finally here and I just can’t wait to see that big tom strutting. We are planning on filming some great hunts this turkey season to share with you here. I have to admit that this will be my first year turkey hunting, and I am looking forward to it. I have been deer hunting for years but have never been turkey hunting. Everyone tells me once I try it I will be hooked on it and won’t be able to get enough of it. That’s what I am afraid of.
Another great thing about spring time is fishing the river.

There is no better time to be fishing the river than in the spring time when the fish spawn.
The fishing action on the river is about to go crazy. We are planning on filming some great fishing trips also. Next week we are planning on going after some white bass, hybrids and strippers on the Oconee river here in Georgia. And when the fish spawn up the river it is so much fun. Fishing the river you can easily catch your limit of big white bass, hybrids and strippers. Once the water temperature reaches around 52 degrees the fish go bonkers and will hit almost anything you throw out. My favorite technique fishing the river is using a drag chain and drifting down the banks of the river and casting a spinner up on the bank and slowly winding it in. I like using a lure that has an in-line blade that has great spinning action, the white bass and hybrids just can’t resist it. Some of my favorite colors are silver, chartreuse, and orange. Another great way to catch some really big hybrids and strippers is to catch some shad with a throw net and cut it and throw it out on the bottom of the river and wait. Their is no telling how big of stripper or hybrid you might catch and you better be ready because when they hit it, it is on!
