Blogging About The Great Outdoors And Plagerism

I really love the great outdoors and blogging about the great outdoors.

The great outdoors is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends.

The great outdoors is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends.

I have always wanted to have a job doing something I am really passionate about. Blogging about the great outdoors gives me the opportunity to work in a field that I really enjoy, even if I don’t make a living doing it, I still get satisfaction from writing about my adventures in the outdoors. I wanted to share a post I ran across over at The Rash Outdoor Chronicles. It seems that there is someone stealing post and has gotten the Outdoor Bloggers Summit blogroll and plagiarized from many of us. You can see the article here. Albert has a great blog and shares his passion for the outdoors please go over and check it out. He has a lot of wonderful stories and great information on the outdoors.

I have ran across some material that I have posted before that other sites have used without permission and it is wrong. There have been a few instances where I wasn’t sure if the material that I wanted to post would be plagerising and I just didn’t go there. I don’t have a problem with someone using my post if they ask and I give them the okay. If it is someone that I know so to speak and have them on my blogroll, I would tell them to use almost any of my material at will. As long as they give me credit for it and link back to my site. Blogging can be a lot of work and even though it might be easy to take someone elses material we should all respect our fellow bloggers and at least have permission if we want to post their material.

Striper Fishing On Lake Lanier

My old friend Troy sent me an e-mail of some striper fishing. He filmed the fun on Lake Lanier, and I wanted to share it with you. Striper fishing can be a lot of fun and they put up a great fight. It looks like Troy and his buddies had a great day striper fishing and caught a few spotted bass as well. If you get the chance try to take a child fishing you will make memories that will last a lifetime. Fishing is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends, and fishing is a great way to relax. If it has been a while since you have gotten in the great outdoors don’t you think it’s a good time to get out and catch some fish?

I also wanted to share an article I read today, it is more for beginners.

A Beginners Guide To Fishing

If you are new to the sport of fishing, you need to know some of the basic rules of fishing. Like other forms of hunting, fishing involves both your environment and those around you. Be respectful of both. You can responsibly enjoy this treasured pastime in several ways. Fishing is an ancient practice. It dates back nearly 10,000 years.

A number of various techniques and traditions have been used during fishing’s progression. Modern technological developments have changed the way people fish, but many of the same rules, regulations, and social norms involving fishing remain. Always practice good stewardship of our waterways when you are fishing. Remember that these waterways were around thousands of years before you and will remain long after we are gone. You can make a conscious decision to leave the areas in which people fish in better condition than when you found it. Take care of our lakes, rivers, and other waterways so that others will enjoy these areas for years to come. Practicing certain behaviors will ensure that you are taking good care of the places where people fish. Never litter when you are fishing. Always bring a trash bag or other receptacle to use for the collection of your trash. You can easily deposit it in a nearby trash receptacle. Dump your refuse in properly assigned dumping stations instead of tossing it in the water. You do not need to spend much time figuring out the many ways in which this hurts the environment. As you fish, always use the correct type of bait and fishing gear. Certain areas allow for certain bait and gear. You will also encounter limits on the number, size, and kind of fish that you can keep. Become familiar with what these limits are and pay attention to them. Do not wait until you are at your fishing spot to search for what is allowed and what is not. Check with your destination before you head out on your fishing trip to see what the local regulations allow. If you plan on using a boat while fishing, research to see what kinds of watercraft are allowed where you are going to fish.

Every fishing location is different, so pay special attention to local procedures and cautions. This also applies when you decide to clean your boat after you leave the water. You do not want to spread non-native species to another body of water. Finally, never fish where it is not permitted. There is always a reason why it is illegal. Some reasons include the protection of certain wildlife, the proper care of vegetation, and the safety of you and others who want to fish. You should also follow a number of cautionary behaviors to ensure your safety.

As with all forms of hunting, safety is first. If you will be using a boat while you fish, always wear your life jacket. Make sure that your passengers wear their life jackets, as well. Be very careful when baiting and removing hooks. Make sure that you never fish on unauthorized waterways. Follow the posted speed limits and wake warnings that accompany the use of a boat. Bring with you all relevant safety items, such as water, flashlights, maps, and a cell phone. Fishing continues to be a favorite pastime. 2001 saw nearly 16% of the U.S. population over the age of 16 spend 16 days fishing. You enjoy the sport of fishing, so follow the rules that allow for the continuation of fishing. Be responsible and courteous of others and your environment. Take time to discover how you can be both a better and safer angler.

Fire Up The Coleman Stove Let’s Go Camping Outdoors

I think it’s time to do a little camping outdoors.

A great way to spend quality time with family and friends is camping outdoors.

A great way to spend quality time with family and friends is camping outdoors.

The weather is just right nice and cool and not to hot for getting out and doing some camping outdoors. I really don’t enjoy camping as much when it is really hot. There is something about being in the great outdoors by the camp fire toasting marshmallows on a nice cool evening. Then the next morning cook a big ole breakfast on the Coleman stove.

You can cook some great meals on a Coleman stove.

You can cook some great meals on a Coleman stove.

I have made some five star breakfast on a Coleman stove. Eggs anyway you like them grits, sausage, bacon, toast yummy I’m getting hungry. I’ve also had some pretty good suppers made by way of the Coleman stove. You just have to love Coleman and their great camping products. They have been around as long as I can remember.

Anyway it has been a while since I have been camping outdoors but I think it is about time. I live in Georgia and there are so many great places nearby that are very inexpensive. One of my favorites is Hard Labor Creek State Park. Another great thing about camping during the spring the fish are really biting well right now and nothing is better than going fishing and having fresh fish cooked the same day you catch them. I’d love to catch a big mess of bream or crappie or catfish.

Another thing that is fun when camping is to take your bikes a lot of places have some great trails to ride that have beautiful scenery. It’s a great way to get some exercise and it is a lot of fun.

I have two small boys that have never been camping and I am looking forward to getting them in the great outdoors. If you get the chance get out and enjoy the great outdoors as well, take a child or friends you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime.

Be Prepared When Hiking Outdoors Or When Out Hunting And Fishing In The Great Outdoors

Do you enjoy hiking outdoors? If you do go hiking outdoors you should always make sure you are well prepared or even if you are just out in the great outdoors.

Be prepared when hunting, fishing, or hiking in the great outdoors.

Be prepared when hunting, fishing, or hiking in the great outdoors.

Hiking outdoors is a lot of fun but can be dangerous if you are not prepared. I always take a first aid kit with me when I am deer hunting or fishing and it is a good idea anytime we are in the great outdoors. You never know when an emergency will happen when deer hunting or fishing or hiking in the outdoors.  I saw an article I wanted to share with you that will help you be prepared the next time you go hiking or are going into the great outdoors.

What You Should Never Go Without When Hiking

You could probably just buy a commercial survival hiking pack but if you want to bring a pack that caters to your own specific needs, consider putting together one yourself. Here’s how:

Have enough water to keep you hydrated
Human beings can survive for some time without food but going without water for extended periods of time can be lethal. Probably the most important component of your survival hiking pack is your supply of water. Ideally, you should keep a gallon for every day you are out. Carry as much as you can. Before you run out, be sure to find an alternative source in the area where you are. That way, you will never have to suffer from the effects of dehydration.

Bring sufficient supply of food
Bring enough food that will allow you to survive for at least three days. While that may seem too much, the extra food will serve you well in case you get stranded or lost. Some of the best choices you might want to include in your survival hiking pack are:

- Instant coffee or chocolate
- Juice or pre-mixed drinks, especially those that contain vitamins and sugar
- Energy bars
- Dried foods
- Packed meals
- Small canned goods

When putting together a survival hiking pack, consider function over taste. The food must be easy to store, won’t spoil easily, convenient to eat and provide enough nutrition to help you survive.

Make sure your first aid kit is complete
A basic first aid kit is another important component of your survival hiking pack. It should contain medications and supplies to treat, disinfect and protect wounds, abrasions, cuts and insect bites. It should also contain medications such as antiseptics, anti-histamines, antibiotics and repellants against insects.

Bring only the basic gear and equipment
There are dozens of gears you can bring but there only a few basic ones can ensure your survival. These include:

A survival knife
A knife is important for cutting, slicing and piercing. Pack a knife with you, preferably one that has multiple uses.

Mirror
Always bring a small compact mirror if you’re going for long travels. Mirrors can be used to signal for help and attract the attention of rescuers.

Whistle
A whistle will help bring attention to you and can be especially helpful if you’re stranded or injured.

Water container
A small tin or metal coffee cup has multiple uses, not just for making coffee. You can also use it to collect and boil water and to cook and store food. For a multi-purpose material, you can bring aluminum foil instead. It’s light, can be heated or frozen and folds easily to pack.

Shelter and bedding
Bring a small tent, a light emergency blanket and a foldable canvas, nylon or plastic sheet you can use as bedding. The plastic sheet will also be helpful for keeping the contents of your survival hiking pack clean and dry.

A good thing to remember when putting together your own survival hiking pack is customization. Put together a pack that contains things you will find useful and leave behind those that you don’t need or don’t know how to use. Remember that what you’re bringing with you is for your own survival, so keep that in mind.

Wonderful Day In The Great Outdoors Fishing The River

The other day my good friend Mac and I got out in the great outdoors and we tore up some hybrids fishing the river.

Nice hybrid caught fishing the river during the spring.

Nice hybrid caught fishing the river during the spring.

Spring is by far my favorite time of year to be in the great outdoors fishing the river. We left about 5:30am and arrived around daylight and parked at a bridge and tried to catch some shad. We were getting worried because we weren’t catching many shad and the we got Mac’s throw net hung up and could not get it back. We had a few though and headed up to try our luck fishing the river. video management, video solution, video streaming On the way up river we saw our good friend Lynn, he is retired and is a regular on the river. Lynn is famous for the Lucas Catch All spinner. You can contact him at www.lucascatchallspinners@bellsouth.net about getting some of his famous spinners, the white bass just can’t resist them. We asked Lynn where we could get some shad and he said right here. We got out of the boat and Lynn caught us a ton of shad and we headed back up river. We finally got set up near a log jam and you could see the shad jumping everywhere, and you could here big fish splashing the water all around. You know when there is a lot of activity like this you better fasten your seat belt tight and hold on for a wild ride! The first fish of the day I caught a very nice channel cat. Then Mac caught a very nice hybrid around 5 pounds and we caught several very nice hybrids with the biggest being around 8 or 9 pounds. We also caught some very nice catfish. It was a wonderful day to be fishing the great outdoors. If you get a chance take a child fishing you will make memories that will last a lifetime.

Being in the great outdoors fishing during the spring is a lot of fun when the hybrids are spawning up river.

Fishing Fresh Water For Catfish

I grew up fishing fresh water, a small lake near my home and I probably have caught as many catfish as any other fish over the years. They sure are fun to catch but can be a pain to get off the hook. What is your favorite bait when going after cats fishing fresh water?

Catfish caught fishing fresh water lake.

Catfish caught fishing fresh water lake.

I would have to say fishing fresh water is my favorite fishing, mainly because that is what I grew up doing. We have a lake full of fish on our hunting property and love taking my little boy he loves to fish. I saw this article on catfish baits, I thought I would share with you.

What Is The Best Bait For Channel Cats (catfish)?

There are so many good baits for catfish. Let’s be honest the catfish is not a finicky eater. They have been known to bite on everything from hot dogs to ivory soap. I know people that will swear shrimp sprayed with WD-40 is the way to go. Trying to identify the best bait for channel cats is difficult.

Here is my list of baits that work best for me and depending on your local, time of day, season or any other variety of reasons will work for you. Every one of these has worked for me and every one has left me without a fish. I will list them here in the order I prefer and some of that has to do with ease of use.

CUT BAITS

Cut baits cover a wide variety of fish baits. The most common ones are: shad, bluegill, anchovy, sardines, mackerel and minnows. Make sure it is legal to use them in your area. I know that bluegill is not legal in some states but is ok in others. I cut them into chunks depending on the size of the bait. I believe cut baits to be the best bait for channel cats and all other types of catfish.

SHRIMP

You can purchase shrimp at your local grocery either with or without shell. I leave the shell on but most remove it. Depending on the size of the shrimp and the size of the bait you want you can use them whole or cut them in half. Many also soak them in vanilla extract to enhance their appeal. I am particularly found of the cut baits and shrimp because they stay on your hook and can be fished in fast currents when necessary.

CHICKEN LIVERS

These can also be purchased at your local grocery store and are a very good bait. I do suggest you take an old nylon stocking and cut it into small squares. You can use these squares to wrap around the chicken liver and attach it to the hook. They will stay on the hook much better. Fish on the bottom and check your bait every 20-30 minutes. If all the blood is gone replace the bait.

WORMS

Night crawlers, garden worms and Catawba worms are all included here. These are the old standby and will catch catfish but are best used where they are likely to find them. Places where creeks and drainage ditches feed into the lake or river seem to be best.

PREPARED BAITS

These can and have been made out of just about everything you can think of. I have tried many different kinds and have had some success. I am sure others do as is evidenced by the thousands of recipes that can be found on the web but I prefer the more natural baits. I think they are the best bait for channel cats and occasionally you will catch their larger brothers, the flathead and the blue catfish.

Wonderful Week In The Great Outdoors Fishing North Georgia Mountains

This past week my wife and I were invited to my Uncles cabin in the great outdoors fishing in the north Georgia mountains. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and unpacked and had a great week of cooking out, riding four wheelers, riding horses, and being in the great outdoors fishing and relaxing. It is always relaxing to be in the great outdoors fishing.

Fly Fishing – 5 Ways To Locate The Best Spot

Every town has one: the old man who knows every secret of the rivers and streams in the area, who never goes home with an empty catch box, who is sought out by fishing-lovers from all around.

Part of what makes him so great: he’s learned to read the water, identifying the places fish cluster and knowing where, on the river, he’s most likely to find those places. Here are five tried-and-true methods for finding the best places in the river to drop a line, even if you’ve never been there before. Be ready to cut some line, though, because a few of them will get you snagged before you locate the sweet spot filled with tonight’s dinner.

1. Old logs and debris. Your fish love to hide in places with lots of debris – so eddy pools where brush and branches are swept by the current are fantastic. This is one of the places you need to be ready to cut line, though; there’s a good chance, when casting in this area, that you’ll be snagging on wood instead of getting a bite. It’s better to be in close to these spots than on the other side of the bank for this reason. And because these areas tend to be relatively noisy underwater, being close to your fish here is not likely to spook them.

2. “Buggy” areas are the very best places to find your fish. When you’re fly-fishing, after all, you’re trying to convince the fish that the lure you’re casting out is a fly – so it stands to reason that your fish are going to cluster beneath real flies. It’s hard to see swarms of bugs out on the water, especially at high-sun hours, so pick up a good pair of polarized sunglasses to cut the glare. As an added advantage, those polarized sunglasses will also cut the glare from the water’s surface, enabling you to spot other submerged features and even the moving shapes of your prey. For large bodies of water that allow for a long cast, polarized binoculars (or even regular binoculars) can be helpful in spotting those areas.

3. Calm pools near fast water with lots of bubbles are ideal. This means eddy pools (again) near waterfalls, near rapids, or in fast-moving waters after a good flood. Remember, your fish need three things to do well: a hiding place, a good source of flies for food, and lots of oxygen. These calm pools tend to be well-aerated due to the nearby rapids, while also providing plenty of places to hide in calm areas.

4. Areas rich in willows and other semi-aqueous vegetation (especially during high-water times). These are prime spots for aqueous bugs like mosquitoes to lay their eggs, providing your fish with an underwater source of food as well as lots of flies above the water. These are also snag-prone areas, unfortunately, so go in close when you’re fishing here. Spring floods and other high-water times are even better times, as you tend to get a spike in the bug population as well as more new places for your fish to explore.

5. Boat docks, tree roots, and submerged water features with hiding places, like near big rocks and boulders, are great. Always watching for that snagging problem, fish these up close or from a distance.

The best areas are those that provide fish shelter, calm water, oxygen, and plenty of bugs, but you also don’t want too many bugs. Hit your most promising spots early in the day, when the sun is low (for less glare) and the fish are hungriest, and the bugs are just starting to swarm.

Build Your Own Pond And Get In The Great Outdoors Fishing Everyday

I took my little boy fishing for the first time last year and it was a memory that I will never forget. Just seeing him get so excited when he caught his first fish was great. He always talks about going again and says when are we going back to deer camp and catch some fish?  I would love to have a pond in my backyard where we could fish all the time.

Being in the great outdoors fishing is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends.

Being in the great outdoors fishing is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends.

Getting in the great outdoors fishing is so much fun can you imagine if you had your own pond? I don’t think I would ever get anything done around the house. I grew up fishing in a lake that my uncle owned that was down the street from where I lived and those were some of the best times of my life being in the great outdoors. I saw this article I thought was interesting.

How To Do Some Tweaking In Your Pond

Live Like Royalty

Backyard ponds are not only for the filthy rich individuals. Nowadays, even the simplest homeowner can make their own backyard pond as luxurious as the wealthy estates.

Once you get your back yard pond set up, it would provide both fun and enjoyment. It also provides a dwelling place for the fish, wildlife, aquatic plants and flowers. It is a relaxing hobby that not only provides relaxation but appreciation to Mother Nature as well.

Plan Ahead

Building your own backyard pond may not be extremely hard to built but thorough planning should be placed in constructing one. The hardest part in building one is digging the pond. It all depends on what type of soil your region has. This determines how easy or how strenuous the digging part would be.

The size and shape of the pond depends on your preferences. It can be a small, preformed pond or one that needs a pond liner that can hold up to seven thousand gallons of water.

Location

Consider the location of your pond. Where would it be best seen? Picture yourself sitting outside. What location grabs your eye the most? Consider these important elements. Is the water source situated just nearby? Is your pond’s location a flat area? Is electrical supply available? Keep in mind that these are just some questions you need to be answered.

Equipment

Building a pond of any size requires a complete set of tools. Now, take hold of these important equipment. In building and constructing a pond, one must need a water pump, a UV filter, a pond filter, and some pond plants among many. Other must haves are the following: a pond liner of appropriate size, an air diffuser, pond lightings, a skimmer, the aquatic animals, and fish food.

Cost

Another thing to consider in pond building is the cost. Initially, constructing and maintaining the pond could be quite expensive, that is with no doubt. But there are now cheaper do it yourself kits available in the market. Once it is finished, the enjoyment it brings is worth it.

Another plus for the backyard pond is that it turns an oh-so-boring piece of land into a thing of beauty. It works best if you have the proper landscape to go with your pond. Make your pond the centerpiece of your back yard.

However, because of too many do-it-yourself homeowners, they usually make mistakes. Following these guidelines may help you avoid the pitfalls of do it yourself backyard pond disasters.

Initially, it is important to incorporate your pond to the current landscape of your backyard. This works best for amateur landscapers who just wanted to get right down to work. Do not let your pond detract the beauty of your yard. Make it fit and not out of place.

To Sum It Up Integrate your pond’s design to your landscape. Do not make it lavish if you have a very simple backyard. Take time to choose the design that may flatter the overall landscaping.

Secondly, think of the essential requirements of a pond. Do not place your pond in complete shade since this will hamper the amount of sunlight to your pond. Aquatic animals and plants need ample amount of the warmth of the sun.

Finally, size does matter. Plant the size of your pond. Do not place too much fish on a small pond. Experiment on a variety of aquatic plants.

Provide luster and relaxation to your yard as well as increase your property’s value. Make your backyard more attractive and enjoyable by adding a backyard pond.

What Type Of Light Do You Prefer In The Great Outdoors?

When in the great outdoors it is imperative to have a good light.

When in the great outdoors it is imperative to have a good light.

What type of light do you use in the great outdoors? There are many different ones to choose from, but when I’m out in the great outdoors LED lights are hard to beat. Weather you are in the great outdoors hunting or fishing Led lights sure come in handy. If I am tracking a deer in the dark or fishing in the dark Led lights last longer than most other lights. I saw this article I thought you might like.

Led Flashlights; Let There Be Light
The new generation of LED lights resolves many of the ‘inconveniences’ of typical camping lights. In the past five years, there have been huge leaps forward in the development of usable LED lighting. Just a few short years ago, LED lights were considered almost too dim for regular use, their manufacturing process was too expensive for everyday purposes. These days, LEDs can emit the full spectrum of light, mimicking daylight through twilight. Combined with the decreasing size and ease of use of computer chips, developers of LED lights have created lights that remain bright far beyond the lifespan of either incandescent or fluorescent lights, can be set to dim for use as a nightlight, or bright to illuminate your entire campsite at night.

Why Should You Choose LED Lights for Camping?
LED lights have numerous advantages over nearly every other type of camping lantern manufactured. In a nutshell, LED lights are:
Durable
LED lights are designed for harsh environments. In experiments using LED flashlights (torches) for instance, every single one of the LED models tested survived a drop from four feet – about the average drop if you knock it off the edge of a table – without even going dim. They withstand temperatures from -40 to 82 degrees Celsius (that’s 175 degrees Fahrenheit, for those keeping track). Bump them around, toss them in the trunk, knock them off the table, drop them down the canyon – they’ll still work. Try that with a typical torch or halogen lantern.
Long-lasting
If you’ve been on the wrong end of a flashlight with dying batteries, you’ll really appreciate the fact that LED lights can run for up to 60 hours continuously on one set of batteries. Even better, many models are solar powered – they’ll run all night on a charge from a few hours worth of sunlight. And a the newest white LED bulbs have a standard life of about 500 hours – which means that you’ll still get 90% of the original light output after 500 hours. Unlike traditional bulbs, they don’t just burn out – they just gradually get a little dimmer, but continue working.

Safer
LED lights burn ‘cool’, making them safe for use in a tent or other enclosed space. Unlike fuel lanterns, they don’t present a safety hazard, and don’t depend on your carrying flammable fuel along with you.

Brighter
The traditional argument against LED lights was that they were too dim for everyday or even emergency use. That’s no longer true. The newest white LED lights are 60 times brighter than standard LED lights, and many lamps are capable of producing near daylight intensity and spectrum light.

Variety
LED lights can be used in a wide variety of types of lights and lanterns. From a tiny emergency light small enough to be carried on your keychain to full-size lanterns that can illuminate your entire campsite, you’ll find LED lights that fit any need. Among the best picks for LED lights to take with you on a camping trip are:
LED lantern for night time lighting. Choose one that can sit on a table OR hang from a branch or wire for maximum flexibility. Most are dimmable to serve as a nightlight.
LED flashlight, either solar or battery operated to light your way when you’re out in the woods looking for the outhouse.
LED emergency flashers or flares are an excellent idea for safety. LED lights can offer maximum brightness at weights under a pound.

Wonderful Day In The Great Outdoors Fishing For White Bass

Yesterday my buddy Mac invited me to go fishing with him and his daughter Danielle on the Oconne River here in Georgia.

Being in the great outdoors fishing is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends.

They picked me up around 5:00 a.m. We got to the river well before daylight and unloaded the boat and headed up the river. It was very cold heading up the river in the dark. We got to a good spot and anchored out and started fishing. We were all freezing and couldn’t wait for the sun to rise. Once it started peeking through the trees it warmed up pretty fast. We caught several nice white bass and it was a great day to be outdoors fishing. I can’t wait to catch some big female white bass.

Catching white bass on the river during the spring is a lot of fun.

Catching white bass on the river during the spring is a lot of fun.

We saw several friends we hadn’t seen in quite some time, it is always good to see old friends.  The white bass are in the river but the water temperature is still a little bit cool.  Once it warms up just a little more the fishing action should really pick up. I can’t wait until the big hybrids and strippers make their way up to do their annual spawning. It is so much fun when the weather warms up and the water temperature gets warm and the fish go bonkers. It had been a long time since I had been in the great outdoors fishing and I really enjoyed it, even with a sinus infection. We a planning on going back next week some time and the action should really pick up with each warm day that we have. I really enjoyed seeing Mac’s daughter catch some fish. Just seeing the smile on her face when she caught her first one was worth the trip. If you get a chance to get out in the great outdoors take a child with you, you will make memories that will last  a lifetime.

No Better Time To Be Outdoors Fishing Than Spring Time

I am so glad today is the first day of spring! There is not a better time to be outdoors fishing.

During the spring outdoors fishing action heats up.

During the spring outdoors fishing action heats up.

I haven’t been yet but plan on getting outdoors fishing soon. Spring time is such a great time if you like to be outdoors fishing or outdoors hunting. All of the trees and flowers blooming and the warmer temperatures make spring such a beautiful time to be in the great outdoors. Tomorrow is the first day of turkey season here in Georgia and the nice weather should make for a great opening day. Brad will be filming his turkey hunting adventures in Monroe county in Georgia this weekend  for Foggy Bottom Outdoors and hopefully he will have some great outdoors hunting footage to share with you.

Being outdoors hunting big toms like this one during the spring is exciting.

Being outdoors hunting big toms like this one during the spring is exciting.

I can just hear that big tom gobbling and see him strutting now! We also will be doing some fishing on the Occone river and should have some great fishing action to share with you as well. Being outdoors hunting and fishing in the spring time it just doesn’t get any better. The warmer weather should get the water temperature where it needs to be to get those white bass, hybrids and strippers spawning up the river. And when it happens the fishing action is as good as any anywhere. I can’t wait to catch one of those big fat white bass females, or a big ole hybrid man they put up a good fight. I can’t wait to have a big fish fry also. Maybe a little cole slaw and some hush puppies on the side, oh and don’t forget the sweet tea.

If you get the chance to get in the great outdoors turkey hunting or fishing this spring don’t forget to take a child of friend with you, you will make memories that will last a lifetime.

Spring Turkey Season And Fishing The River

I don’t know about you but I am ready for turkey season!

This weekend turkey season opens here in Georgia, and not a minute too soon. Spring is finally here and I just can’t wait to see that big tom strutting. We are planning on filming some great hunts this turkey season to share with you here. I have to admit that this will be my first year turkey hunting, and I am looking forward to it. I have been deer hunting for years but have never been turkey hunting. Everyone tells me once I try it I will be hooked on it and won’t be able to get enough of it. That’s what I am afraid of.

Another great thing about spring time is fishing the river.

There is no better time to be fishing the river than in the spring time when the fish spawn.

The fishing action on the river is about to go crazy. We are planning on filming some great fishing trips also. Next week we are planning on going after some white bass, hybrids and strippers on the Oconee river here in Georgia. And when the fish spawn up the river it is so much fun. Fishing the river you can easily catch your limit of big white bass, hybrids and strippers. Once the water temperature reaches around 52 degrees the fish go bonkers and will hit almost anything you throw out. My favorite technique fishing the river is using a drag chain and drifting down the banks of the river and casting a spinner up on the bank and slowly winding it in. I like using a lure that has an in-line blade that has great spinning action, the white bass and hybrids just can’t resist it. Some of my favorite colors are silver, chartreuse, and orange. Another great way to catch some really big hybrids and strippers is to catch some shad with a throw net and cut it and throw it out on the bottom of the river and wait. Their is no telling how big of stripper or hybrid you might catch and you better be ready because when they hit it, it is on!
