Placing trail cameras on trails and food plots can tell you what times deer are feeding and where they are traveling and feeding. We have several cameras strategically placed throughout our property and we get some great pictures of trophy bucks that we rarely see otherwise. Especially the trophy bucks that are mainly nocturnal. These big bucks typically move only at night especially when hunting pressure is heavy. The best times to get big deer on trail cameras is during the rut and when hunting pressure is minimal. That’s what makes these cameras so valuable you can monitor the monster bucks movements even if it is only at night and you can set up your stands to put yourself in the best location on the bucks trails leading to and from the bucks feeding and bedding areas. Without the photos with the times the buck is moving it is hard to figure him out. We have had a huge buck on our property on trail camera for several years now and we still can’t figure him out. Needless to say he is a lot smarter than we are. I think he just becomes strictly nocturnal for the most part and only moves at night, except for a few occasions during the rut or when deer season is over. The camera helps me figure out whats bucks made it through the season as well, and let’s me know when they start to shed their antlers. I just love wildlife cameras.
