I received an email the other day I just had to share with everyone, it is a picture of the Bald Eagle.

The picture was taken in Sunbury in Savannah in the great outdoors. It’s a great picture, it’s not everyday you get a picture of the Bald Eagle. I think the Bald Eagle is absolutely one of the most beautiful birds in North America.

I found some interesting facts on Eagles.

  1. Females are about 25% larger than males
  2. National Bird
  3. Symbol of the USA
  4. Wingspan from 6′ to 8′
  5. Can weigh from 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 pounds
  6. Build the largest nest of any bird in North America
  7. Has bright yellow Irises and a white head and tail and a brown body
  8. June 28, 2007 was removed from the Endangered And Threatened Wildlife list
  9. Average life span is twenty years
  10. Can live up to thirty years in the great outdoors or longer in captive

I have seen one Eagle before in the great outdoors.

Eagles live on average twenty years in the great outdoors, longer in captivity.

We were fishing for hybrids on the Oconee River in Georgia, and we looked up and this Eagle was gliding right down the river, I guess looking for fish. I just stopped what I was doing and watched him in awe until he went out of sight. I looked at my buddy and he looked at me and we didn’t say anything for a few seconds we just had this bewildered look on our face. When you see something that beautiful in the wild it is something you will never forget. Have you ever seen a Eagle in the wild? Where did you see it? I would love to see another one someday.
